Introduction
We at UnicornForms have thought A LOT about documents and there's a lot of common, confusing and interchangeable words that mean the same or different things depending on the context or background of the person speaking. For example, document, template or form may all mean the same thing to some of our users.
As a result we offer four ways to view a document: Document View, Form View, Both Document and Form View and Read Only
When in doubt, try both!
If none of this makes sense, just use the "both" option. It will share both the document and form view to the user.
Documents that need to be read
If your document is a contract or agreement or other legal type document that needs to be read, we recommend using the Document View. This will create a mobile optimized view for your signers to view and fill in the documents you are sending them.
Documents that are really forms
Got a registration, application, enrollment, licensing or credentialing type document? We've create the Form View. This will not show the document (whether it's a PDF or from our document editor) but just the form fields. This is GREAT for documents that don't really need to be read and just need to be filled in and signed.
Read Only
If you've got an IRS document or are signing a document you received and the other user does not need to sign it, then Read Only is great. Simply fill & sign your document and send it out to your recipient. They can download it on their side.
