Introduction
With so many types of documents to sends how do we make sense of it all?! We offer a simple metaphor: Cookies and Cookie Cutters. These are your Executed Documents and Templates
What's a Template?
Templates are your cookie cutters. Define the shape and create as many Executed Documents (cookies) as you like. In simple terms, a Template is a type of document that can be re-used.
What happens when I update a Template?
Updating a template does not change or update any of the prior Executed Documents that were created from the template. Any new Executed Documents created from the Template will contain the latest changes.
Any Share Links to Templates will create a new Executed Document.
What's an Executed Document?
We borrowed this term from the legal space, so blame the lawyers. An Executed Document is a document that's finalized and signed. These will start in our workflow typically in Waiting or Inbox and eventually become completed.
Any Share Links to Executed Documents will update the document you are on and not create a new one. This is great for the Review & Approval process.
What's a Single Document?
One is the loneliest number as they say. A Single Document is simply an Executed Document that did not come from a Template. A common use case is documents that have been sent to you for signature that you just need to send back or those pesky one off contracts & agreements we advise our users to avoid. We get it though. Life is messy.
Any Share Links to Single Documents will update the document you are on and not create a new one. This is great for the Review & Approval process.
